As any pet owner would probably tell you, myself included, the loss of a beloved pet is a profoundly sad and difficult experience. Finding a way through the grief takes time and is an essential part of healing.

The process of commissioning a pet portrait can be a part of healing as you reflect on your pet's life. Expressing your emotions and love for the pet you have lost through this creative outlet can be surprisingly therapeutic.

Seeing your pet's portrait can evoke a gentle sense of their presence and bring back happy memories. As a tangible keepsake of your pet and your unique bond with them it can offer comfort and solace as well as a loving reminder that you're not alone.

One of my very first pet portraits was my cat Tango, a feisty and independent but very lovable tabby who was with me for 12 years. A calming and constant presence throughout life's many challenges, good and bad, I wanted to draw a personal tribute to her that captured her spirit and unique personality.

The result is more than a portrait - it's a wonderful reminder of how her presence always made me smile and in a way she's still with me which is very comforting!
